A new way to receive prenatal care.
CenteringPregnancy is an exciting way for women and their families to receive prenatal care. Support, prenatal care and education all take place during CenteringPregnancy groups, allowing women more time with their midwife. Women also participate in care with other women in similar stages of pregnancy.
Throughout this unique model of care, women are more empowered to choose health-promoting behaviors. Research has shown that health outcomes of pregnancies – specifically increased birth weight and gestational age of babies who deliver preterm, and the satisfaction expressed by both women and their providers – support the effectiveness of CenteringPregnancy.
CenteringPregnancy groups provide a dynamic atmosphere for learning and sharing that is impossible to create in a one-on-one encounter. Hearing other women share concerns that mirror their own help women normalize the whole experience of pregnancy.
CenteringPregnancy is all about…
Groups
Groups of 8-10 women and partners, sharing 10 scheduled appointments in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with content, specific to each stage of the pregnancy, birth and parenting.
Self-care
Each woman takes responsibility for her own chart and health information and gains knowledge to achieve optimum health outcomes in pregnancy.
Support
Women meet others with similar concerns, interests and experiences and learn new strategies to meet challenges they may have.
Time
Time is precious, so each session meets and ends on time. Optional dates are offered to meet everyone’s schedule.
CenteringPregnancy is…
• Safe
• Effective
• Patient-centered
