| Visitation restrictions continue for second week
Ravenna, Ohio, Oct. 14, 2009 – Due to increased influenza in the community, Robinson Memorial Hospital is continuing visitation restrictions implemented on Oct. 7 that allow only healthy visitors age 18 and older to visit patients. Hospitals frequently enact visitation restrictions each year during influenza season.
“Flu symptoms do not always show in younger people,” said Joan Seidel, RN, BSN, Robinson Memorial Hospital Infection Control Coordinator. “We’re asking families not to bring persons age 17 or younger to visit because it will help us protect our patients.”
Individuals 17 or younger are allowed in the hospital for tests and procedures and activities such as physical therapy. The restriction applies to visiting patients only. The hospital also asks that people not visit if they do not feel well or if they show symptoms of: fever, chills, headache, cough, sore throat or muscle aches.
