Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation Awards Seven Scholarships
Thousands of dollars awarded in seven scholarships to children
 

Ravenna, Ohio (July 2010) - The Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the award of seven scholarships to children of Robinson Memorial Hospital and Robinson Health Affiliates Inc. employees. Five $1,000 scholarships from the Peter F. Chen, M.D., Medical Staff Scholarship Fund, one $1,000 scholarship from the Delbert and Marcella Shilling Scholarship Fund and one $1,000 scholarship from the Dr. Steve and Patti Dean Scholarship Fund have been awarded.

The Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation is grateful for the service of the Ravenna Rotary Scholarship Committee, which selects scholarship recipients annually.

Receiving the Delbert and Marcella Shilling Scholarship for 2010 is Kenneth Shircliff, a 2010 Waterloo High School graduate and the son of Kenn and Patricia Shircliff.  Patricia Shircliff is a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Kenneth Shircliff plans to attend Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute.

The Delbert and Marcella Shilling Scholarship was established by the Shilling family in loving memory of Delbert and Marcella Shilling.

Recipients of the Peter F. Chen, M.D., Medical Staff Scholarships are Jordan Bedell, Aubrey Blubaugh, Kathryn Breiding, Nathan Carpenter, and Jenna Reider.

Jordan, a 2010 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, is the son of Anne Marie Roudabush. Anne Marie is a front office associate with the Ulrich Professional Group. Jordan will attend Kent State University to study nursing.

Aubrey Blubaugh, a 2010 graduate of Crestwood High School, is the daughter of Jeff and Tawnya Blubaugh. Tawnya Blubaugh is a scheduling clerk in registration at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Aubrey will attend Moody Bible Institute to study ethnomusicology.

Kathryn Breiding, a 2010 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, is the daughter of James and Beth Breiding. Beth Breiding is a nurse in outpatient endoscopy at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Kathryn will attend Kent State University to study nursing.

Nathan Carpenter, a 2010 Field High School graduate, is the son of John and Lisa Carpenter. Lisa Carpenter is a registered nurse in outpatient surgical services at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Nathan will study engineering at Harding University in Searcy, AR.

Jenna Reider, a 2007 graduate of James A. Garfield High School, is the daughter of James and Cindy Reider, a nurse with Northeast Ohio OB/GYN. Jenna is studying nursing at Otterbein University.

The Peter F. Chen, M.D. Medical Staff Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 by Dr. Chen to provide scholarships to legal dependents of employees of Robinson Memorial Hospital and Robinson Health Affiliates, Inc. and to recognize the contribution employees make in caring for patients. Nearly 60 members of the Robinson Memorial Hospital Medical Staff have donated to the fund and more than 50 scholarships have been awarded.

Receiving the Dr. Steve and Patti Dean Scholarship is Bryan Shure, son of Rhonda and Larry Shure, a health information management clerk at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Bryan graduated from Poland Seminary and is studying nursing at Kent State University.

The Dr. Steve and Patti Dean Scholarship Fund was established in 2008 to provide a unique opportunity for legal dependents of employees of Robinson Memorial Hospital and Robinson Health Affiliates Inc. who are continuing their education at Kent State University.
