If you're experiencing any of the following symptoms of stroke or heart attack, call 911 or get to the hospital immediately - even if you're not sure about the symptoms. The sooner you get to the hospital, the better your chances of preventing serious health problems.

Signs of Stroke (#3 killer in the U.S.)

  • Sudden numbness in arm, leg or face, especially on one side of the body
  • Blurred or decreased vision, in one eye or both eyes
  • Difficulty speaking or understanding simple sentences
  • Sudden severe headaches with no known or apparent cause
  • Loss of balance or coordination, unexplained dizziness, unsteadiness or sudden falls, especially combined with any of the previous symptoms

Signs of Heart Attack (#1 killer in the U.S.)

  • Uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing or pain in the center of the chest, lasting more than a few minutes
  • Pain radiating to the shoulders, neck, arms or jaw
  • Chest symptoms with light-headedness, fainting, sweating, nausea or shortness of breath
