Hospice is reflective of a spirit and idea of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying making it possible for them to remain independent for as long as possible and in familiar surroundings. Robinson Hospice care is centered on the patient, caregiver and family and we respond to the unique differences in each patient's lifestyle, values and wishes.
Hospice Volunteers are utilized in the following five areas:
Respite Care
Relief care for hospice patients, their caregivers & families. This may include home visits, companionship and general support. Other services may include hair care services, errands, handyman help, light house keeping, story writing & expressive arts.
Vigil
Provide support to families when it appears death is imminent. These special individuals are frequently asked to respond on short notice.
Facility
Interact with patients, families and staff in a nursing home, assisted living facility, group home or Robinson Memorial Hospital.
Bereavement
A valuable resource for our families during their time of loss. Their supportive presence and phone calls assist the family members in their grief journey.
Support Services
Include office assistance, baking, fund-raising, sewing, Speakers' Bureau, photography, flower-arranging, special events and much more.
Thorough training is provided in all areas and offered twice yearly, spring and fall. Support Services training is year round.
