Some patients suffer weeks, months or even years with nonhealing wounds that resist typical treatment. (A nonhealing wound is one that hasn't closed up in four weeks.) Robinson Memorial Hospital offers wound care through our wound care center in Streetsboro, Robinson Visiting Nurse and Hospice and Convenient Care Services at the hospital on the main campus. Patients are able to enjoy specialized, comprehensive wound care close to home.

Robinson Wound Care Center at Streetsboro
Robinson's wound care center is located in the Robinson Health Center at Streetsboro and specializes in the treatment of chronic and non-healing wounds, a growing problem spurred by the aging population and the rising rates of diabetes and other chronic diseases. The 2,317 square-foot Robinson Wound Care Center houses two hyperbaric oxygen chambers and five treatment rooms in the facility. The Center employs the most technologically advanced wound care therapy, including debridement, dressing selection, special shoes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and patient education.
Local physicians with privileges at Robinson Memorial Hospital, who have undergone special training in hyperbaric oxygen therapy will share office hours at the clinic; providing specialty care in areas including podiatry, plastic surgery, general surgery and vascular surgery.
Patients with wounds that have not begun to heal in two weeks or is not completely healed in four weeks may benefit from the Wound Care Center. Some of the indications for wound therapy include diabetic, neuropathic and pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, burns and other chronic, non-healing wounds.
As the Robinson Health Center at Streetsboro conducts lab work and radiology under one roof, we are able to offer wound care patients one-stop testing.While most patients are referred to the wound care center by their family physician. Self referrals are also accepted.

Robinson Visiting Nurse & Hospice
Robinson Visiting Nurse & Hospice has a Wound Care Certified Registered Nurse who has been WCC for three years and has extensive home care and medical surgical experience. We follow National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) guidelines for prevention, staging and treatment using moist wound healing concepts. Using moist wound healing concepts take less heal time, decreases re-hospitalization and is less traumatic for the patient.
Also, with the opening of the Robinson Wound Care Center at Streetsboro, we will be able to refer patients for non-healing or stalled wounds, so our home care patients will no longer have to travel outside Portage County as they have had to in the past. If intravenous antibiotic therapy is required for infected wounds, Robinson's therapeutic outpatient clinic, Convenient Care Services, is also available for patients.

Convenient Care Services
Convenient Care Services at Robinson Memorial Hospital is an adult outpatient treatment clinic located within the 2 East Nursing Unit. Any physician that is a member of the medical staff at Robinson may order treatment services for a patient referred to Convenient Care. This physician will serve as the physician supplying ongoing direction of care provided by the Convenient Care nurses. Our nursing staff includes chemotherapy certified nurses for patients that have a diagnosis of cancer or hematologic malignance and require chemotherapy and supportive medication administration. Our nurses carry out dressing changes, IV antibiotics for infected wounds, work with wound VACs and even do long term wound care right in the hospital.
